Icarus

Sometimes I wish I could remember how to dance,
how to laugh again, a full body-soul laugh like I used to.

The world used to spin like a top
and I used to fly on the wind.
Few could soar as high as I could;
but the heat, the intensity, melted my wings away

My feet now know the ground
and know about the gravity and those
laws that govern the world, keeping me on
the earth

My mind is puzzled,
it wonders if it was just a dream...
but then again I've never been very good with dreams.
